Expansion of production and logistics

fetra – Fechtel Transportgeräte GmbH is amused to announce the start of a significant building project for the expansion of production and logistic areas. Construction measures have begun on 20th May 2024 and shall be completed until 25th April 2025. This expansion will make it possible to increase the efficiency and capacity of the departments powder coating, assembly and order picking. Moreover, a highly modern automatic warehouse for pallets and a new dispatch hall will arise. These will assure an optimal integration and atomization of the logistic processes. A further part of the project is the installation of a high power photovoltaic system on the roof of the new hall that will make an important contribution for the sustainable power supply. Hereby we invest in the future of our company and set new scales in the production of transport equipment made of steel, aluminium and stainless steel.

Following some details of the building project:

Construction begin                                  : 20th May 2024

Expected completion of the buildings : 25th April 2025

Expected commissioning
APL/conveyor technology (Go live)      : 30th September 2025

The expansion of our premises with building on the area between our western hall area and eastern warehouse as well as our former parking lot consist of:

- a 9,252 m² large production hall and warehouse for future integration of departments powder coating, assembly and order picking that among others will be equipped with a new shot peening and powder coating system.
In the area of the future assembling will be a built-in wing with a foreman office, restrooms and a common room for 24 employees of the near departments. On the roof of the hall will be installed a photovoltaic system (PV) with a nominal system output of 700 kWp to feed for self-consumption and surplus feed into the public grid.

- a 1,295 m² large, 21 m high automatic pallet warehouse (APL -> high-bay warehouse) in silo design with 4,136 pallet storage spaces in 2 aisles of double-deep rack storage, the aisle length is 60 metres. Storage/retrieval takes place via fully automatic storage and retrieval machines and the pallets are transported automatically between the APL and 3 loading/unloading stations via conveyor technology tracks.

- a 1,680 m² large dispatch hall for loading our shipments through 13 ramp gates and 1 gate at ground level. At 3 gates will be installed conveyor belts for loading swap trailers for the parcel dispatch here. These conveyor belts will be connected directly with parcel conveyor technology at 2 order picking places that will be supplied with goods to be shipped over pallet conveyor technology out of the APL.
In the area of the future shipping department will be a built-in wing with an office with connected entry and restrooms for drivers.

- a 3 level office and social wing with a ground surface of 465 m² that offers social rooms for 85 employees as well as a restroom and meeting room on the ground floor. On the first floor is an office level in which the colleagues of the departments work preparation, construction, project management and production management will find their new workplaces. The second floor will be equipped with technic rooms and expansion space for future offices.

The departments manufacturing, welding and goods receipt will be expanded, modernized and partly new arranged after the out move of powder coating, assembly, order picking and shipping. So that also here will be more space available again.

The general contractor for the construction of the buildings is Goldbeck from Bielefeld.
The realisation of the high-bay warehouse with the connected conveyor technology will take place by viastore NL Löhne.
